This was a collaborative project with Azeez Fusiboye for Afrobeats icon and musician Davido.

The intent of the project was to create a connection and unity between the Toronto culture, represented by the Raptors Jersey, and the Afrobeats culture.

• Davido’s new album had just released and he was expected to have a concert in Toronto in the later months of Spring that year (2020).

• In order to promote his upcoming concert, Azeez Fusiboye asked me to paint and customise the jersey based on the new album and its cover art, because they are quite personal to the artist himself and depicts him and all his loved ones.

• The shirt was hand custom painted on both sides, the first side being based off of his album “A Good Time” released in 2020, and the second other side being based off of “A Better Time” released the following year in 2021.

• In order to help support and raise awareness of Davido, his music and his upcoming concert, Azeez Fusiboye (before COVID-19) would ask any individual he met in Toronto to sign the shirt. It didn’t matter who you were or whether you knew him or not, because after you signed the shirt you would definitely get to know him, his music and his contribution to the Afrobeats community.

• The artist actually received the shirt in 2020 in Nigeria, before COVID-19, but returned the shirt in hopes of wearing it in Toronto during his concert. Unfortunately, the concert was canceled due to COVID-19 but the shirt is still on its way back to the artist.
